Job Description: X-Ray Technician

Core Responsibilities:

- Conduct routine and portable x-ray exams, ensuring efficient operation of equipment and adherence to radiation safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
- Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, ensuring they meet required standards.
- Confirm and update patient details and examination records, adjusting exam descriptions as necessary to accurately reflect the procedures performed.
- Efficiently use PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), RIS (Radiology Information System), and the current Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, along with completing all necessary documentation for each exam.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of x-ray and related equipment, following infection control guidelines. Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to supervisory staff.
- Fulfill all required continuing education and training mandates as specified by regulatory bodies.
- Engage in departmental meetings, annual trainings, and in-service education, contributing to Quality Improvement Initiatives.
- Adhere to radiation safety principles, including ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable), and support the Image Gently and Image Wisely campaigns.
- Assist patients with mobility, applying correct body mechanics during transfers, lifting, and ambulation.
- Maintain a valid Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed, while upholding the organization’s standards of behavior and code of conduct.

Position Requirements:

- Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination, unless a religious or medical exemption is granted.

Qualifications:

Essential:

- Eligibility for ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) registration at the time of hire, with completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Hold or obtain a Washington State X-ray Technician (XT) license.
- Secure ARRT registration within three months of starting.
- Obtain Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification (RT) within six months of employment.
- Proficient in computer use, with accurate typing skills and experience in email communication.

Preferred:

- Additional certifications or registry in other diagnostic imaging modalities.
