Job Description:

The Respiratory Therapist provides critical care to patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders. This role involves collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat patients, ensuring optimal respiratory function and overall health.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests including spirometry, arterial blood gases, and pulmonary function tests.
  • Provide respiratory treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust treatments as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families about respiratory conditions and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to create and implement patient care plans.
  • Keep detailed and accurate patient records, documenting all treatments and interventions.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care is required.
  • Experience: Previous clinical experience in Respiratory Care is preferred.

Licenses / Certification:

  • Must have a valid/unrestricted license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Washington state.
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required within 6 months of hire. 
  • BLS Certification is required upon hire.
