Microbiology Technician

Position Overview: MLee Healthcare is seeking a talented and motivated Microbiology Technician to join a dynamic team within a new and grown organization. The Microbiology Technician will perform various microbiological tests and procedures essential for diagnosing, preventing, and treating diseases. This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate laboratory records and ensuring adherence to strict laboratory protocols.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform microbiological tests, procedures, and analyses on specimens, including but not limited to cultures, sensitivity testing, and microscopy.
  • Prepare and maintain bacterial, viral, and fungal cultures.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of biological materials and hazardous waste according to safety protocols.
  • Record and interpret test results accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and perform routine maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic information.
  • Adhere to quality control and quality assurance guidelines to ensure validity and reliability of laboratory tests.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and reagents and assist in ordering supplies as necessary.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry required
  •  Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry preferred
  •  State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV)
  •  National Certification as a Microbiology Technologist required
