About the Role – ICU Nurse
In this high-acuity nursing role, you will provide expert care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced ICU environment. Using advanced clinical judgment and problem-solving, you’ll help manage acute conditions, support recovery, and play a key role in care coordination. This position is ideal for RNs who thrive in urgent care settings and are passionate about making a difference.
Key Responsibilities – ICU RN
Provide Critical Care: Deliver safe, specialized care to ICU patients in accordance with hospital protocols and nursing standards.
Conduct Ongoing Assessments: Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond with timely, appropriate interventions.
Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Work alongside doctors, respiratory specialists, case managers, and other nurses to create and follow individualized care plans.
Administer Advanced Treatments: Manage high-level treatments including cardiac meds, IV therapies, blood transfusions, and ventilator support.
Support Family Involvement: Guide and communicate with patients' families during treatment, offering clear updates and emotional support.
Apply ICU Best Practices: Uphold evidence-based standards across all aspects of care, from admission to discharge.
Core Skills & Technical Capabilities
- Strong documentation and EMR skills
- Knowledge of ICU-specific monitoring tools and life support systems
- Comfortable interpreting complex patient data and responding accordingly
- Prioritizes safety, quality, and infection control procedures
Qualifications
Licensing & Certifications:
- Texas RN license (or multi-state compact) required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC preferred
Education & Background:
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted with relevant ICU experience
- Minimum 1 year ICU, ER, or step-down unit experience preferred
- New grads with strong clinical rotations may be considered
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills
