Description:

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department provides patient care which reflects nursing intervention, patient response to care provided, patient needs, problems, capabilities, limitations, and progress toward goals and ensures coordination to the next level of care


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs technical skills safely and accurately, and demonstrates a working knowledge of equipment
  • Monitor patient’s condition, notes changes in status, utilizes judgment and takes appropriate action
  • Able to continuously anticipate, intervene, prioritize and evaluate the patient's condition and requirements according to the patient's health care needs
  • Must demonstrate or quickly adapt knowledge and skills related to the use of appropriate Emergency Department equipment and computer programs
  • RN duties in an acute ED as required
  • Identified potential problems and initiates appropriate measures
  • Assesses patient and family needs and documents this information appropriately in the computer or on appropriate form
  • Reassesses patient every eight hours, and, as necessary
  • Revises plan of care, as necessary based on daily evaluation of patient
  • Evaluates patient's outcome based on previously defined goals

Education and Certifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.
  • Preferred: at least one year's clinical experience, medical, surgical, or critical care.
