What You’ll Do
- Perform Ultrasound Examinations
Conduct a variety of ultrasound exams, including abdominal, pelvic, musculoskeletal, OB/GYN, and vascular studies, ensuring high-quality and diagnostic clarity. - Operate Ultrasound Equipment
Adjust settings on ultrasound machines to capture accurate images while maintaining precise control over the equipment. - Ensure Patient Comfort and Safety
Position patients correctly and ensure their comfort throughout the imaging process, providing a supportive and caring environment. - Collaborate with Healthcare Teams
Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to interpret ultrasound results and provide timely diagnostic information. - Document and Report Findings
Accurately document all findings in the electronic medical records (EMR) system, ensuring full compliance with HIPAA and hospital protocols. - Educate Patients
Provide clear instructions to patients about their ultrasound procedure and answer any questions to alleviate concerns. - Adhere to Safety Standards
Follow all relevant safety and regulatory guidelines, ensuring patient confidentiality and quality of care in all procedures. - Perform Equipment Maintenance
Regularly check and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal functionality, troubleshooting issues when necessary. - Engage in Professional Development
Stay current with advancements in sonography technology and best practices through continuing education and training.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
Certification & Licensure:
- ARDMS or ARRT (S) certification required.
- State licensure as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Texas, if applicable.
Experience & Skills:
- At least 1 year of experience as a Sonographer in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and performing a variety of exams.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy and ultrasound techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and on-call shifts when necessary.
