Practice Precision, Partner with Purpose — Join as a Surgical Physician Assistant in the Heart of Central Texas

Overview

Every operating room has its own rhythm — a cadence of precision, trust, and communication. As a Physician Assistant with a surgical focus, you know how critical your presence is: not just in the OR, but at the bedside, during follow-ups, and behind the scenes where real healing begins.

We're looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented PA to support surgical services in a full-time role. Here, you’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with skilled surgeons and compassionate nurses, ensuring each patient’s journey through surgery is seamless, supported, and centered on their well-being. Whether you're guiding a patient through pre-op education or passing instruments with confidence mid-procedure, you'll make a tangible difference every day — in a place where your talent and tenacity are truly valued.

Job Description

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical exams and detailed reviews of medical histories
  • Assist in the evaluation and diagnosis of surgical conditions through interpretation of imaging studies and lab results
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons in creating and executing patient-specific surgical treatment plans
  • Provide intraoperative support, including prepping operating rooms, ensuring patient positioning, and handing off surgical instruments during procedures
  • Deliver exceptional pre- and post-operative care, including medication administration, wound care, discharge planning, and patient education

Education

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Completion of clinical rotations with a surgical emphasis strongly preferred

Certifications

  • Current and unrestricted PA-C certification
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • State licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of surgical principles and sterile technique
  • Proven ability to interpret diagnostic tests and contribute to complex clinical decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, particularly during surgical cases
  • Compassionate bedside manner and a deep respect for patients' dignity and autonomy

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance incentives
  • Full suite of health benefits (medical, dental, vision)
  • Generous paid time off and CME reimbursement
  • Supportive team environment with access to top-tier equipment and resources
  • Career advancement opportunities in a dynamic and growing healthcare setting

Your Role in the Surgical Journey

Being a Surgical Physician Assistant is about more than technical skill — it’s about showing up with calm clarity when the unexpected happens, and offering reassurance when a patient’s fear outweighs their hope. You’ll be hands-on in the OR, but also a steady voice in the hallway, explaining a diagnosis, guiding families, and helping patients take their next steps forward.

You’ll collaborate on everything from minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures to more complex inpatient surgeries. But your presence will also be felt post-op — during wound checks, recovery discussions, and long-term planning. Your input matters. Your clinical eye is trusted. Your voice is respected in decisions large and small.

This is a team that values your perspective and understands that every successful surgery is a group effort — built on trust, humility, and relentless care.

Rooted in Rhythm: Why Central Texas Is More Than a Backdrop — It’s a Lifestyle

When you step out of the hospital, you’ll find yourself in a place that doesn’t just accommodate life — it celebrates it. This is Central Texas, where rolling hills meet live music, and taco trucks hum near tech start-ups and shaded hiking trails.

Take a weekend to paddleboard along the calm waters of the Colorado River, or hike among limestone outcrops where wildflowers bloom nine months out of the year. Find local breweries where the beer is brewed with just as much care as your patients receive. Here, the community is as warm as the weather, and people look you in the eye when they ask how your day is going — because they actually want to know.

With no state income tax and a thriving job market, this is a place where your salary stretches further and your downtime becomes real time. It’s not just a great place to work — it’s a place to build a life that feels like it fits.

Whether you prefer high-rise living with skyline views or a quiet bungalow under the pecan trees, there’s a space here for you. The music scene? Legendary. The food? A fusion of BBQ smoke and creative global flavors. And the people? A laid-back mix of dreamers, doers, and everyone in between.

Who We're Looking For

We’re looking for a Physician Assistant who doesn’t shy away from pressure — someone who thrives in high-acuity settings and finds meaning in meticulous preparation. Someone who listens before they speak, supports before they lead, and learns just as often as they teach.

You might be early in your surgical career or seasoned with years of intraoperative support — either way, we’re more interested in your character than your credentials. If you have a sharp mind, a steady hand, and a genuine heart for healing, you’ll be right at home here.

Let’s Work Together Where Precision Meets Purpose

This role is more than a job. It’s a mission — to help people reclaim their strength, recover their movement, and return to their lives better than before.

Join a team where every role is honored, every win is shared, and every patient is more than a chart. If you’re ready to bring your surgical expertise to a region that honors both clinical excellence and human connection, we can’t wait to meet you.
