Help Little Voices Be Heard: Become a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist in South Austin

There’s something extraordinary about helping a child find their voice—whether it's their very first words, a clear “R” sound after months of practice, or the confidence to speak up in a classroom. As a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, your work changes lives by opening up a world of expression, connection, and self-confidence. If you're looking for a role that blends clinical expertise with deep human impact, this is your opportunity to make a difference—right here in the vibrant heart of Austin.

At our community-rooted outpatient clinic, you’ll work one-on-one with children of all ages and developmental stages. You’ll be supported by a multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, celebrates progress, and shares your passion for pediatric care. We’re not just looking for a clinician. We’re looking for someone who loves to play, laugh, problem-solve, and grow with us—and with every child who walks through our doors.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and Develop Therapy Plans: Conduct speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing evaluations tailored to each child’s developmental needs.

Provide Direct Intervention: Use play-based, evidence-informed techniques to support communication, articulation, and expressive/receptive language growth.

Collaborate with Families and Care Teams: Educate caregivers on carryover strategies, and work closely with occupational and physical therapists, educators, and physicians.

Track Progress: Document session outcomes and therapy milestones, adjusting treatment goals based on clinical progress and family input.

Advocate for Communication Access: Empower families with tools, AAC knowledge, and resources to promote success across home, school, and community settings.

Education

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Clinical fellowship applicants (CFs) welcome and encouraged to apply!

Certifications

Texas State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred or in progress.

CPR certification required.

Skills

Passion for working with children, from toddlers to teens, across a wide range of developmental and speech-language challenges.

Playful, creative, and patient-centered communication style.

Strong documentation and progress monitoring abilities.

Collaborative spirit—comfortable working within a close-knit therapy team.

Confidence in helping families navigate therapy tools, strategies, and expectations.

Benefits

Competitive Salary: depending on experience and specialty certifications.

Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and mental health support.

Time Off: Generous PTO, paid holidays, and flexible scheduling.

Professional Development: Mentorship, CEU reimbursement, and specialty certification support.

Culture of Care: A team-first environment where your ideas, feedback, and well-being matter.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, your day begins with connection. A peekaboo smile from a toddler hesitant to engage. A wave from a kindergartener who used to hide behind their parent. A confident “Hi!” from a teen who, just a few months ago, was too unsure to speak in a group.

In our clinic, your therapy space might include puzzles, puppets, flashcards, bubbles, and an ever-growing stash of sticker charts. You’ll shape your sessions around each child’s goals—and each family’s hopes. Whether helping a nonverbal child explore alternative communication or guiding a school-age student through social language scenarios, your work will stretch across age, ability, and personality.

You’ll collaborate closely with our pediatric occupational and physical therapists, trading notes, celebrating breakthroughs, and making plans to approach each child’s growth holistically. And you’ll never be alone. Our team values humor, empathy, curiosity, and creativity—and we bring all of that to the break room as much as the treatment room.

A Team That Feels Like Family — in a City That Feels Like Home

What makes our team special? It’s not just our clinical excellence. It’s our culture of support, laughter, and shared mission. We’re a community inside a community—cheering each other on, brainstorming treatment ideas, and covering each other when life outside of work gets hectic.

Our clinic is deeply embedded in Austin, not just geographically but relationally. We’ve built long-term partnerships with local schools and parent groups. We’ve hosted sidewalk chalk days and sensory-friendly holiday parties. We’re a local fixture—and proud of it.

You’ll join a group of professionals who love kids, love their work, and believe in creating a workplace that nurtures both. Whether you’re a new grad or seasoned SLP, you’ll find mentors, collaborators, and lifelong friends here.

Austin: Where Quirky Charm Meets Community Care

Imagine finishing your workday and heading out for tacos from a trailer tucked under a canopy of oak trees. Or taking your lunch break on a blanket at Zilker Park, with the skyline on the horizon and kids flying kites nearby. That’s life in Austin, a neighborhood that balances laid-back charm with family-friendly energy.

Here, creativity meets community. You’ll find music on every corner, murals on every wall, and a palpable sense of local pride. There are neighborhood bookstores with reading hours, weekly farmers markets filled with fresh produce and friendly faces, and a constant rhythm of festivals, art shows, and outdoor events.

Austin is especially welcoming to healthcare professionals who want more than just a place to live. It offers a lifestyle grounded in wellness, connection, and good vibes. It’s home to young families, ambitious artists, weekend adventurers, and professionals like you—people looking to make an impact while making the most of their lives.

And thanks to Texas' no state income tax policy, your income stretches farther—making it easier to plant roots, support a family, or simply enjoy the best that Central Texas has to offer. Whether you're biking along the Barton Creek Greenbelt, exploring local coffee shops, or grabbing late-night breakfast tacos, South Austin offers a quality of life that supports your career and feeds your soul.
