Job Summary:

MLR is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our dedicated team at [Facility Name]. The MT/MLT will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The ideal candidate will be proficient in laboratory techniques, committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, and capable of working collaboratively within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology.
  • Prepare and analyze samples, such as blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures for testing, quality control, and safety.
  • Accurately record and interpret test results, documenting findings in patient records.
  • Communicate results to physicians and healthcare providers, providing additional information or clarification as necessary.
  • Adhere to infection control practices and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Participate in laboratory quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Stay current with advancements in laboratory technology and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Technologist (MT): Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field; certification by a nationally recognized organization such as ASCP, AMT, or equivalent.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field; certification by a nationally recognized organization such as ASCP, AMT, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, especially in a physician’s office or outpatient clinic.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time / Part-time hours may include occasional evenings or weekends.
  • May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of moderate weights.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
