Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Inspect and test instruments to ensure proper function and cleanliness before use.
- Organize and prepare sterile supplies and instruments for surgical teams.
- Maintain and manage sterilization records, ensuring accurate documentation of sterilization processes.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Assist with the organization and storage of sterile supplies, ensuring easy access and inventory control.
- Work collaboratively with surgical teams to ensure instruments and supplies are available and ready for use during procedures.
- Regularly inspect sterilization equipment and ensure it is maintained and serviced as needed.
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory and safety guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with sterilization standards and techniques.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or similar certification preferred.
- Previous experience in sterile processing or a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, sterilization techniques, and safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as necessary.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
