Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Required Certifications:

  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
  • Valid state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (preferred).

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Education Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Associate’s degree.
  • Degree Type: Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy or its equivalent.
  • Field of Study: Respiratory Therapy or related discipline.

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Core Responsibilities:

  • Patient Management: Administer respiratory care including assessments, treatments, and education for patients experiencing respiratory issues.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver therapeutic services like mechanical ventilation, nebulizer treatments, and oxygen therapy to patients of varying ages.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for respiratory patients.
  • Continuous Learning: Pursue ongoing education to stay current on the latest practices and innovations in respiratory care.
