Central Sterile Technician Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Central Sterile Technician to join our surgical services team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and medical equipment. Your work behind the scenes plays a vital role in ensuring a safe environment for patients and healthcare providers.
Central Sterile Technician Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays.
- Operate autoclaves, washers, and other sterilization equipment in accordance with protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure timely distribution of sterile supplies to operating rooms and clinical units.
- Monitor inventory and restock supplies in sterile processing areas.
- Adhere to infection control standards and hospital policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure timely and accurate instrument availability.
Central Sterile Technician Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Central Sterile Processing program preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through IAHCSMM or CBSPD preferred or obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and instrument care.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
