Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiography Technologist)
Position Overview:
As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will perform non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound exams to evaluate the heart's structure and function, supporting cardiologists and healthcare providers in the diagnosis and management of heart conditions. Your work will play a crucial role in providing accurate, timely images to inform treatment plans for patients with cardiovascular issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Echocardiograms: Conduct a variety of echocardiographic procedures, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echocardiograms, and Doppler studies, to capture high-quality images of the heart.
- Patient Care: Provide excellent care by ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures, explaining the process, and answering any questions.
- Image Quality: Operate echocardiography equipment to capture clear, accurate, and diagnostic-quality images of the heart's chambers, valves, and blood flow.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to help diagnose heart conditions, assess heart function, and monitor patient progress.
- Documentation: Accurately document all test results, including imaging findings, patient history, and other relevant data, in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure echocardiography equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to ensure optimal performance.
- Education: Provide guidance to patients on the procedure, addressing any concerns to ensure a smooth and positive experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
- State of Ohio Echocardiography License (or eligibility to obtain).
- Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, echocardiographic imaging techniques, and Doppler ultrasound.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with patients and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Experience with advanced echocardiography procedures, such as stress echocardiograms or transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
- Proficiency with imaging software and Electronic Medical Records (EMRs).
