Job Summary

This role is accountable for overseeing various accounting functions, including managing monthly and year-end closing activities and preparing financial statements. You will also assist with payroll and accounts payable processes, support the development and monitoring of annual budgets, and provide key financial insights and education to the management team for effective departmental oversight. Additionally, you will be responsible for gathering information for annual tax filings, financial audits, and Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.

Accountant Job Responsibilities

  • Performs journal entries and adjustments to the general ledger and other monthly closing activities to ensure the development of accurate financial statements.
  • Responsible for preparation of the financial data presented in the monthly package presented to the Board(s) of Directors. 
  • Monitor monthly budgets and provide support to management team in oversight of budgets. 
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and reports for various entities. 
  • Provide data and analysis to assist in completion of annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.

Accountant Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in using financial ratios and analytical techniques for financial evaluation.
  • Skilled in gathering, interpreting, analyzing, and reporting data and information.
  • Capable of establishing and implementing fair and consistent accounting policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Effective in building and maintaining strong relationships with management and staff.
  • Able to present facts and recommendations clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates progressive thinking with a capacity to drive and manage change.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
