Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Position Overview:
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using radioactive materials to help in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions. You will work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality imaging results, ensuring the best possible patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Radiopharmaceutical Administration: Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for imaging and therapeutic purposes, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
- Imaging Procedures: Perform nuclear medicine procedures, including SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography), PET (Positron Emission Tomography), bone scans, cardiac scans, and thyroid studies.
- Patient Care: Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment, including cameras and computers, ensuring proper function and performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols, including radiation protection standards, to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of imaging procedures, radiopharmaceutical doses, and patient information. Assist in preparing and presenting reports to physicians or radiologists.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and radiologists to provide optimal imaging results for accurate diagnoses and treatment planning.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- State of Ohio Nuclear Medicine Technologist License (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Experience with nuclear medicine equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging procedures.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and team members.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Certifications in nuclear medicine or specialized imaging procedures (e.g., PET/CT or cardiac imaging).
- 2+ years of experience in nuclear medicine imaging, particularly in hospital or clinical settings.
- Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures or therapeutic nuclear medicine is a plus.
