Director of Surgical Services (RN) Job Summary

Provides leadership to the Surgery Department by demonstrating the knowledge, skills and learning ability necessary to be effective. Responsible for assessing department performance and then implementing actions to improve performance. Provide leadership to the department staff which includes assessing competency and then developing skills to improve effectiveness. Role also requires technical ability to maintain quality service and regulatory standards. Participates in performance improvement activities of the department and daily management of infection prevention and control activities.

RN – Director of Surgical Services Qualifications

Education
-Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
-Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio
-BLS Certification
-ACLS Certification within 6 months of employment
-PALS within 6 months of employment

Experience
-3 or more years of previous surgical experience
-3 to 5 years previous management experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 

Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment. Successful completion of appropriate competencies for assigned specialty areas. Able to function efficiently with constant change. Basic knowledge of computers. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Demonstrates flexibility, ability to multi-task and effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
