Sonographer - ARDMS
Position Overview:
As a Sonographer, you will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring a variety of medical conditions. Your role is critical to ensuring the accurate and timely capture of images for medical evaluations, and you will play a key role in helping to guide treatment decisions. This is a patient-centered role, where strong interpersonal skills and technical expertise are equally important.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Diagnostic Ultrasound Exams: Conduct a variety of ultrasound examinations (e.g., abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, musculoskeletal) to produce high-quality images for clinical diagnosis.
- Patient Interaction: Provide exceptional care to patients by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort throughout the imaging process.
- Image Capture & Quality: Position patients properly, capture clear and precise images, and document ultrasound findings accurately.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to interpret ultrasound results and provide essential diagnostic support.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to radiation safety and infection control protocols, maintaining patient safety and the proper functioning of ultrasound equipment.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation in compliance with hospital protocols and healthcare regulations.
- Maintenance & Equipment Care: Ensure ultrasound equipment is regularly calibrated, cleaned, and well-maintained.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent, in one or more of the following: Abdomen (AB), OB/GYN (OB), Vascular (RVT), or Musculoskeletal.
- State of Ohio Sonography License (or eligibility to obtain).
- Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound physics, anatomy, and imaging techniques.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical or hospital environment.
- Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and provide accurate imaging results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in Vascular Ultrasound or Cardiac Sonography.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Sonographer, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Experience with 3D/4D ultrasound or other advanced imaging modalities.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and imaging software.
