Cath Lab Nurse Job Description 

Assist in Cardiac Procedures: 

Provide expert nursing care during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker insertions, and electrophysiology studies. 

Monitor Patient Condition: 

Continuously monitor and document patient vitals, administer medications, and respond quickly to changes in condition during procedures. 

Collaboration with the Care Team: 

Work closely with cardiologists, technologists, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure the highest standard of care and patient safety. 

Patient Education & Advocacy: 

Educate patients and families on procedures, post-procedural care, and long-term cardiac health strategies. 

Prepare and Maintain Equipment: 

Assist in preparing, operating, and maintaining cath lab equipment in a sterile, safe, and efficient environment. 

Requirements 

Licensure & Certifications: 

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State 
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire) 

Skills & Experience: 

• Prior experience in a cardiac cath lab, critical care, or interventional cardiology setting preferred 
• Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making abilities 
• Effective communication and collaboration skills 
• Proficiency in the use of cardiac and interventional equipment
