Nuclear Medicine Technologist

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a vital role in our diagnostic imaging department. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures to help diagnose and treat various medical conditions. Your expertise will contribute to our mission of providing high-quality healthcare to our Albany, NY based facility.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform various nuclear medicine procedures, including but not limited to SPECT scans, PET scans, bone scans, cardiac stress tests, and thyroid uptake studies.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and in compliance with hospital protocols.
  • Operate sophisticated imaging equipment to capture high-quality images, such as gamma cameras and PET/CT scanners.
  • Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to provide accurate and timely reports on imaging findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient information, procedure details, and radiopharmaceutical usage.
  • Adhere to all radiation safety guidelines and protocols to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary exposure.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of imaging equipment, reporting any malfunctions or issues promptly.
  • Educate patients about the procedures and address any questions or concerns.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and participate in continuing education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
  • Current certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N) with a nuclear medicine specialization.
  • State licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment and associated software.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmaceuticals, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, focusing on patient care and comfort.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional on-call shifts.
