Position Overview – Physical Therapist 

As a Physical Therapist in the adult outpatient setting, you will evaluate, treat, and help restore function for patients with neuromusculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory conditions. You’ll play a vital role in helping patients regain mobility and independence through evidence-based care and personalized rehabilitation plans. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and referring physicians 
  • Administer physical therapy interventions including therapeutic exercise, balance and gait training, and pain management techniques 
  • Apply modalities such as ultrasound, cryotherapy, moist heat, electrical stimulation, and soft tissue mobilization 
  • Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, injury prevention, and rehabilitation goals 
  • Document all treatments, assessments, progress, and discharge summaries in EMR according to policy 
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and coordinate care with interdisciplinary providers 
  • Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and Rehabilitation Aides as needed 
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and operated safely and in compliance with infection control protocols 
  • Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and departmental meetings 

 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program (Doctorate, Master’s, or bachelor's degree accepted) 

Licensure & Certifications: 

  • Current New Mexico Physical Therapist license required 
  • BLS certification (AHA) required 

Preferred Experience: 

  • New graduates welcome; outpatient adult rehab or hospital-based experience preferred 

Skills: 

  • Strong interpersonal and clinical decision-making skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment
