Position Overview – Physical Therapist
As a Physical Therapist in the adult outpatient setting, you will evaluate, treat, and help restore function for patients with neuromusculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory conditions. You’ll play a vital role in helping patients regain mobility and independence through evidence-based care and personalized rehabilitation plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and referring physicians
- Administer physical therapy interventions including therapeutic exercise, balance and gait training, and pain management techniques
- Apply modalities such as ultrasound, cryotherapy, moist heat, electrical stimulation, and soft tissue mobilization
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, injury prevention, and rehabilitation goals
- Document all treatments, assessments, progress, and discharge summaries in EMR according to policy
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and coordinate care with interdisciplinary providers
- Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and Rehabilitation Aides as needed
- Ensure equipment is maintained and operated safely and in compliance with infection control protocols
- Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and departmental meetings
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program (Doctorate, Master’s, or bachelor's degree accepted)
Licensure & Certifications:
- Current New Mexico Physical Therapist license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
Preferred Experience:
- New graduates welcome; outpatient adult rehab or hospital-based experience preferred
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment
