Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational and clinical oversight for all services within the Women’s Health unit, including labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
- Partner with the Director of Women’s Services and physician leaders to drive improvements in care delivery, patient outcomes, and provider satisfaction
- Supervise nursing practice and ensure alignment with established clinical protocols and regulatory standards
- Lead staff recruitment, training, mentoring, and performance evaluations to maintain a skilled, motivated, and high-performing care team
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration and effective communication between nurses, physicians, and support staff
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, assess clinical performance metrics, and implement evidence-based practices
- Monitor staffing levels and resource utilization to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of clinical care in patient medical records
- Promote patient, staff, and physician satisfaction through consistent and accountable leadership
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Joint Commission standards, departmental policies, and hospital procedures
- Assist in the planning and delivery of ongoing staff education and professional development programs
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure & Certifications:
- Current RN license in the State of New Mexico (or compact eligible)
- BLS certification required
- National certification in Women’s Health or Nursing Leadership preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience in Women’s Services or Pediatrics
- At least 2 years of progressive nursing management or leadership experience
Skills:
- Proven leadership and staff development skills
- Strong clinical knowledge in maternal-child health and women’s services
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
- Experience working collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to effectively manage change and lead quality initiatives
