Job Summary:

Join our night shift team in Northeastern South Carolina as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT). You'll perform diagnostic tests under the Clinical Director's supervision, manage lab equipment, ensure quality control, and support efficient lab operations. Opportunities to mentor staff and students may be available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive and effective departmental environment.
  • Engage in ongoing learning to integrate new concepts and practices.
  • Perform venipuncture accurately across all patient age groups, ensuring specimen quality.
  • Conduct testing in designated departments, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate results.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for quality control, document corrective actions, and make informed decisions on patient results.
  • Process proficiency samples, document critical values, and maintain confidentiality in result reporting.
  • Participate in competency testing and professional development activities.
  • Maintain certification and actively engage in in-service education and meetings.
  • Train new employees or students as needed.
  • Utilize computer systems and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) effectively.
  • Collaborate positively with a diverse range of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Support the Medical Center’s mission and ensure consistent attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

     

    Requirements:

  • Registered MLT/MT with valid credentials (ASCP, NCAMLP, AMT, ASMT, or equivalent) or eligible within six (6) months.
  • Proficient in operating laboratory instruments and interpreting results.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, medical staff, and customers.
  • Ability to address the needs and limitations of patients of all ages.
  • Familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within established guidelines.
