Job Summary:
Join our night shift team in Northeastern South Carolina as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT). You'll perform diagnostic tests under the Clinical Director's supervision, manage lab equipment, ensure quality control, and support efficient lab operations. Opportunities to mentor staff and students may be available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a positive and effective departmental environment.
- Engage in ongoing learning to integrate new concepts and practices.
- Perform venipuncture accurately across all patient age groups, ensuring specimen quality.
- Conduct testing in designated departments, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate results.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for quality control, document corrective actions, and make informed decisions on patient results.
- Process proficiency samples, document critical values, and maintain confidentiality in result reporting.
- Participate in competency testing and professional development activities.
- Maintain certification and actively engage in in-service education and meetings.
- Train new employees or students as needed.
- Utilize computer systems and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) effectively.
- Collaborate positively with a diverse range of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Support the Medical Center’s mission and ensure consistent attendance.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Registered MLT/MT with valid credentials (ASCP, NCAMLP, AMT, ASMT, or equivalent) or eligible within six (6) months.
- Proficient in operating laboratory instruments and interpreting results.
- Effective communication skills with patients, medical staff, and customers.
- Ability to address the needs and limitations of patients of all ages.
- Familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within established guidelines.
