Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) to perform diagnostic tests as prescribed by physicians under the guidance of the Clinical Director. This role requires proficiency commensurate with the individual's education, training, and experience, including equipment maintenance, quality assessments, and effective workload management. Responsibilities may also include mentoring lab staff and students, pending approval by the laboratory director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a positive departmental environment through effective leadership.
- Stay current with industry advancements and incorporate new concepts.
- Perform venipuncture across patient demographics to ensure specimen quality.
- Conduct precise testing in designated departments and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Adhere to SOPs for quality control, document corrective actions, and make informed decisions regarding patient results.
- Process proficiency samples, document critical values, and maintain confidentiality in result releases.
- Participate in competency testing and engage in professional development activities.
- Maintain certification, attend in-service education, and contribute to meetings.
- Train new employees or students as assigned.
- Utilize computer and LIS systems proficiently.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Support the Medical Center's mission and maintain regular attendance.
- Perform additional duties as delegated.
Requirements:
- Registered MLT/MT with valid credentials (ASCP, NCAMLP, AMT, ASMT, or equivalent) or eligibility within six (6) months.
- Proficiency in operating laboratory instruments and interpreting results.
- Strong communication skills with patients, medical staff, and customers.
- Ability to accommodate patients of all ages and understand their unique needs.
- Familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work within established guidelines.
