Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) to join our team on the night shift. This role involves performing diagnostic testing under the Clinical Director's supervision, maintaining lab equipment, conducting quality assessments, and managing workloads efficiently. Opportunities to mentor lab staff and students may be available with laboratory director's approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Foster a positive departmental environment and lead by example.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with new concepts and advancements in the field.
- Venipuncture: Perform venipuncture across all patient age groups with high proficiency to ensure specimen quality.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct accurate tests in various departments and manage troubleshooting as needed.
- Quality Control: Follow SOPs for quality control, document corrective actions, and make informed decisions regarding patient results.
- Sample Processing: Handle proficiency samples, document critical values, and maintain confidentiality in releasing results.
- Professional Development: Engage in competency testing, in-service education, and maintain certifications.
- Training & Collaboration: May involve training new employees or students; work collaboratively with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Technology Utilization: Effectively use laboratory instruments and LIS systems.
- Mission Support: Support the Medical Center’s mission and maintain consistent attendance.
- Additional Duties: Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Certification: Registered MLT/MT with valid credentials (ASCP, NCAMLP, AMT, ASMT, or equivalent) or eligibility within six months.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in operating laboratory instruments and interpreting results.
- Communication: Effective communication skills with patients, medical staff, and customers.
- Patient Care: Ability to cater to patients of all ages, understanding their needs and limitations.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Motivation: Self-motivated and able to work within established guidelines.
