Job Summary:

 

MLR Healthcare is looking for a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) to conduct diagnostic testing based on physician orders under the supervision of the Clinical Director. This position requires a high level of expertise in accordance with your education, training, and experience, including maintaining laboratory equipment, performing quality assessments, and effectively managing workloads. The role may also include mentoring lab staff and students, pending the Laboratory Director's approval.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive and productive departmental environment through effective leadership and collaboration.
  • Engage in continuous learning to adopt new concepts and ideas.
  • Perform venipuncture competently across all patient age groups to ensure specimen quality.
  • Conduct accurate testing in designated departments and troubleshoot issues as necessary.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP) for quality control, document corrective actions, and make informed decisions regarding patient results.
  • Process proficiency samples, document critical values, and maintain confidentiality when releasing results.
  • Participate in competency testing and professional development activities.
  • Maintain certification and actively participate in in-service education and departmental meetings.
  • May involve training new employees or students.

Requirements:

  • Registered MLT/MT with valid credentials (ASCP, NCAMLP, AMT, ASMT, or equivalent).
  • Proficient in operating laboratory instruments and interpreting results.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, medical staff, and customers.
  • Ability to address the needs and limitations of patients of all ages.
  • Familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures.
