Ultrasound Technologist Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, echocardiography, and small parts imaging, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, adjusting settings to obtain optimal imaging results.
  • Assess and position patients properly for each exam, ensuring comfort, safety, and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results and provide timely diagnostic information.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting imaging procedures and findings in the EMR system.
  • Educate patients about ultrasound procedures, addressing any concerns and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Follow all regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA, AIUM, and facility protocols, to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality assurance checks on ultrasound equipment, reporting any technical issues as needed.
  • Stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology and best practices through continuing education and professional development.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
  • Current certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-S).
  • State licensure as an Ultrasound Technologist, if applicable.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sonographer in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in operating ultrasound imaging equipment and related software.
  • Strong understanding of ultrasound techniques, anatomy, and pathology recognition.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional on-call shifts.
