Director of Surgical Services 

 

Position Overview:

 

We are seeking a Director of Surgical Services to lead and manage our dynamic Surgical Services department. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality surgical care while overseeing daily operations, resource management, policy development, and team leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Oversight: Direct all activities within the Surgical Services department, ensuring top-tier patient care and adherence to the latest best practices.
  • Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of skilled surgical professionals, including surgeons, nurses, and surgical technicians.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop and implement strategies to improve departmental efficiency, patient flow, and overall surgical outcomes.
  • Policy & Compliance: Establish and enforce policies that ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Innovation: Stay current with emerging surgical techniques, trends, and technologies to maintain the department’s competitive edge and exceptional care standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, hospital leadership, and healthcare providers to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Financial & Resource Management: Oversee the department's budget, staffing, equipment needs, and supply chain management to ensure optimal resource allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a related field from an accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of progressive clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in Surgical Services or related healthcare settings.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 1 year of hire. Additional certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Extensive knowledge of surgical services management, including budgeting, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient safety.
