Medical Technologist

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by ASCP or equivalent is required.
- Michigan state licensure (or eligibility).
- Preferred experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of lab techniques, equipment, and safety.
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage time and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Roles Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests on patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and immunology.
- Analyze results and interpret data for physician use in diagnosis and treatment.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment; troubleshoot and repair as needed.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and storage for accurate results.
- Follow safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Accurately document and report result in the lab information system (LIS).
- Train and mentor new staff and technologist students.
- Stay updated on lab technology through continuing education.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide the best patient care.
- Participate in quality control and assurance to maintain accreditation.
