Position Overview: As a Cytologist, you will be responsible for examining cellular samples under a microscope to detect abnormalities and assist in the diagnosis of various diseases, including cancer. Your expertise in cytological techniques and interpretation will play a crucial role in providing accurate diagnoses and guiding patient treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform microscopic examination of cellular samples, including Pap smears, fine needle aspirations, and body fluid specimens.
  • Identify and classify abnormal cells and structures indicative of disease or malignancy.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and communicate results to pathologists and healthcare providers.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality control in all aspects of cytology testing procedures.
  • Stay current with advances in cytological techniques, technology, and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a related field.
  • Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Cytotechnologist in Maryland.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
