Full-time/Day Shift/Operating room

Job Summary:

The Surgical Tech First Assistant works in a dual role as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and a First Assistant, This position assists surgeons and surgical teams during major surgical services and complex surgical procedures. This position functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse when performing the role of CST, and works under the direction of a Surgeon when performing the role of First Assistant.

Education:

Associate of Arts Degree in Surgical Technology AND completion of a Surgical Assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABSA Required.

Certifications/Requirements:

Current CPR certification is required.

One of the following below required:

Certification as a Surgical Technologist under the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist by graduation from a CAAEP and passing a national certification examination (CST)

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician program

Certification under the National Center for Competency Testing

Certification under the Armed Forces (military) Program

Experience:

Minimum three years experience as a certified surgical technologist required, Two years clinical experience as a Surgical Assistant preferred.
