Imagine a career that lets your passion for communication take center stage. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the bustling city of Fort Wayne, you’ll do so much more than address various speech and swallowing disorders. You’ll unveil potential, restore confidence, and forge meaningful connections with individuals at every stage of life — from little ones exploring their first words to older adults aiming to regain their independence.

This position presents a rare chance to support a diverse population within a setting that masterfully combines outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient work. If your heart lies in pediatric speech development, or if you're a specialist in adult neurogenic disorders, or if geriatric cognitive rehabilitation is your calling, this role can fulfill your aspirations and provide flexibility to meet your professional goals.

Description

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments across pediatric, adult, and geriatric groups, using both standardized evaluations and clinical observations.
  • Craft individualized treatment strategies that address both immediate objectives and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges.
  • Deliver direct therapeutic interventions focusing on various aspects of speech such as fluency, language, voice, and swallowing techniques.
  • Engage with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians to ensure comprehensive and collaborative care.
  • Provide educational resources for patients and families to facilitate ongoing improvement beyond the clinical environment.
  • Participate in inpatient evaluations and therapies when necessary, guaranteeing a seamless care experience.
  • Keep concise and precise documentation in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth through continuing education and collaboration with peers.

Education

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required unless ASHA-certified.

Certifications

  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Mandatory: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within the first month of employment.

Skills

  • Expertise in evidence-based practices relevant to all age groups, with a deep understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong communication skills that foster relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A talent for modifying therapeutic methods to accommodate varying cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Exceptional clinical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with electronic health records and knowledge of documentation protocols.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with your experience.
  • Flexible scheduling to promote work-life harmony and accommodate diverse caseloads.
  • Opportunity to focus on specialties such as pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Paid time off and holiday compensation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
  • Support for continuing education and professional advancement.
  • A team-oriented atmosphere that emphasizes quality care and ongoing learning.

A Career That Inspires Growth and Connection

In this role, you’ll not only provide essential speech therapy – you’ll become an integral part of a mission that seeks to amplify voices, enhance communication, and foster joy in the simplest of human interactions: being understood and understanding others.

You’ll collaborate with compassionate colleagues who treat each other like family, in a community that prioritizes shared success over rivalry. Every patient comes with their own narrative; we rely on you to help influence how their stories are communicated.
