Registered Polysomnographic Technologists Requirements 

  • Graduation from an accredited Polysomnography Program or equivalent training and experience
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Can accept Certification of:
    • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
    • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) credentialed by the American board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)

Registered Polysomnographic Technologists Job Description 

  • The Sleep Diagnostics Center is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care. The center has 6 bedrooms, and offers testing 7 nights a week.
  • The center is state of the art; using Cadwell, ResMed, and Nonin softwares, a variety of PAP masks. The Cadwell system interfaces with the electronic medical record, which is Epic.

Registered Polysomnographic Technologists

  • Conduct polysomnography, including EEG, EOG, EMG, and other physiological monitoring, to assess and diagnose sleep disorders.
  • Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures, attaching electrodes and sensors, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Monitor and record patient data in real-time during sleep studies, including brain activity, heart rate, respiratory patterns, and other physiological signals.
  • Analyze and interpret sleep study data to detect abnormalities and diagnose conditions such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome.
  • Maintain polysomnography equipment by performing routine checks, troubleshooting technical issues, and calibrating devices to ensure accurate functionality.
