Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator support for patients with breathing disorders.
- Assessments & Evaluations: Perform respiratory assessments, including measuring lung volumes, oxygen saturation, and other vital signs to determine the best treatment plan.
- Ventilator Management: Monitor patients on mechanical ventilators, adjusting settings and ensuring proper function.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to create and implement respiratory care plans tailored to individual patients.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on respiratory health, including how to use inhalers, nebulizers, CPAP/BiPAP devices, and other respiratory equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
- Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required.
- Experience: At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist is preferred, but we welcome new graduates with the appropriate credentials.
- Skills: Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move patients, and operate respiratory equipment.
