Ultrasound Tech Supervisor - Position Overview:

 

MLR is seeking an Ultrasound Supervisor to play a key role in overseeing the daily operations of a dynamic ultrasound department for a hospital near Chicago, Illinois. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of ultrasound services. This leadership position demands strong clinical expertise, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to work effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate ultrasound department activities to promote efficient workflow and optimal patient care.
  • Oversee the scheduling of ultrasound procedures and staff assignments to meet departmental demands.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards related to ultrasound services.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations, provide mentorship, and facilitate ongoing education and training for ultrasound technologists.
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality imaging and accurate diagnoses.
  • Maintain and manage the operation and upkeep of ultrasound equipment, ensuring all devices function properly.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve departmental efficiency and patient care.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Address and resolve any patient concerns or issues related to ultrasound services.

Qualifications for an Ultrasound Supervisor:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in at least one discipline is required; additional certifications (e.g., RDCS, RVT) are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ultrasound technologies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
