Charge Nurse (RN) – Critical Access Hospital
Lead with Heart, Serve with Purpose
Some nurses are natural leaders. They’re the steady presence during a code blue, the calm voice when things get chaotic, and the person everyone turns to for guidance. If that sounds like you, we’ve got a spot waiting for you just outside Rudement, IL — in a place where nursing still feels like community care.
At our critical access hospital, the pace may not match the city — but the impact is just as profound. Every patient is a neighbor, a friend of a friend, or someone you’ve seen at the local diner. And as a Charge Nurse, you’re more than just a shift supervisor — you’re the backbone of a close-knit care team that shows up for people when it matters most.
You’ll be the one keeping the ship steady. Assigning nurses to patients. Supporting staff through high-stress moments. Balancing clinical expertise with emotional intelligence. You’ll lead with empathy and ensure our patients get the kind of care you’d want for your own family.
This isn’t a role where you blend into the background. You’ll coordinate across departments, problem-solve in real-time, and act as the go-to for questions, crises, and critical thinking. And you’ll do it all in a setting where your voice matters — where ideas are welcomed, and leadership feels personal.
We’re looking for someone with an active RN license and experience in acute or emergency care settings. Leadership experience is a big plus, but if you’ve been informally leading and you're ready for that next step, we’re happy to support your growth. You should feel confident in making decisions under pressure, mentoring newer nurses, and working side by side with doctors and support staff to keep things running smoothly.
In return, you’ll get more than just a job. You’ll have a real seat at the table, the support of a team that knows each other by name, and the opportunity to shape how care is delivered in a community that truly values its hospital. We offer competitive pay, strong benefits, generous PTO, and a work environment where your leadership is not just appreciated — it’s essential.
The hospital may be small, but the mission is mighty. If you’ve been searching for a place where your leadership makes a real impact — and where your career can grow while still feeling grounded — this could be your next home.
Ready to step into a role that blends clinical skill with meaningful leadership? Apply now and let’s talk about what it looks like to lead with purpose, right here in the heart of southern Illinois.
