Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Ultrasound Procedures: Use ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients’ internal structures, including the abdomen, pelvis, and soft tissues, as well as fetal imaging for obstetric patients.
- Patient Care: Ensure patient comfort and safety by explaining the procedure, positioning patients properly, and providing support throughout the exam.
- Image Quality: Capture high-quality images that meet diagnostic standards, following protocols and physician instructions.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information and ultrasound findings in patient charts, ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations and patient privacy standards.
- Collaboration: Work with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and optimal patient care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (or equivalent) from an accredited program.
- Certification: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification in Abdomen and Obstetrics/Gynecology required. Additional certifications in Echocardiography or Vascular Ultrasound are a plus.
- Licensure: Illinois state licensure or eligibility as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (or certification in accordance with state regulations).
- Experience: Prior experience as an ultrasound technologist is preferred, but we welcome applications from new graduates with the appropriate certification.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to position patients and operate ultrasound equipment for extended periods.
