Nuclear Medicine Technologist Qualifications and Requirements:
- Completion of a Nuclear Medicine program with associated certificate or degree.
- IEMA License in Nuclear Medicine.
- ARRT(NM) or NMTCB registry required
- BLS certification.
- One (1) year Nuclear Medicine experience preferred.
Nuclear Medicine Technologist Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a range of nuclear medicine procedures, including SPECT scans, PET scans, bone scans, cardiac stress tests, and thyroid uptake studies.
- Safely administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Operate advanced imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras and PET/CT scanners, to capture high-quality images.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to deliver accurate and timely reports on imaging findings.
- Maintain precise records of patient information, procedure details, and radiopharmaceutical usage.
- Adhere to all radiation safety guidelines and protocols to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary exposure.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of imaging equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions or issues.
- Educate patients about procedures and address any questions or concerns they may have.
- Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and participate in continuing education programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.
