Nuclear Medicine Technologist Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Completion of a Nuclear Medicine program with associated certificate or degree. 
  • IEMA License in Nuclear Medicine. 
  • ARRT(NM) or NMTCB registry required
  • BLS certification.
  • One (1) year Nuclear Medicine experience preferred.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of nuclear medicine procedures, including SPECT scans, PET scans, bone scans, cardiac stress tests, and thyroid uptake studies.
  • Safely administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Operate advanced imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras and PET/CT scanners, to capture high-quality images.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to deliver accurate and timely reports on imaging findings.
  • Maintain precise records of patient information, procedure details, and radiopharmaceutical usage.
  • Adhere to all radiation safety guidelines and protocols to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary exposure.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of imaging equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions or issues.
  • Educate patients about procedures and address any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and participate in continuing education programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.
