Radiation Physicist
Position Overview:
MLR Healthcare is seeking an experienced Radiation Physicist to join our team. As a key member of our radiation oncology department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in patient care, developing treatment plans, conducting quality assurance procedures, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee quality assurance programs for radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems.
- Conduct detailed dosimetry calculations and collaborate with radiation oncologists to design individualized radiation treatment plans.
- Perform regular equipment calibration, testing, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and patient safety.
- Provide physics support during complex radiation treatments, including stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and brachytherapy, ensuring accuracy in treatment delivery.
- Advise and assist with the implementation of new technologies and radiation techniques to improve patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with the clinical team, including radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists, to ensure the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff, residents, and other clinical team members regarding radiation safety, treatment planning, and physics concepts.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in radiation physics, new treatment modalities, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal radiation safety regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., ACR, JCAHO, etc.).
- Ensure the proper documentation of procedures, equipment calibrations, and quality control reports in accordance with facility policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's or PhD in Medical Physics, Radiation Physics, or a closely related field from an accredited program.
- Certification: Board certification in Radiation Therapy Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or equivalent (or eligibility to sit for the exam).
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of clinical experience in radiation physics, with a focus on radiation therapy in an oncology setting.
- In-depth knowledge of radiation safety, treatment planning, dosimetry, and QA protocols.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical issues and provide solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, dosimetrists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail while managing multiple projects and responsibilities.
- Experience with advanced radiation therapy technologies (e.g., IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT) is highly preferred.
