Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Educational Requirements:
Must be ARRT (N) or NMTCB.
Two years of experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Operating Imaging Equipment: Skillfully operate advanced imaging equipment, including PET and SPECT scans, to capture accurate images.
Administering Radiopharmaceuticals: Safely prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals orally, through injection, or inhalation to facilitate diagnostic procedures.
Patient Care: Explain imaging procedures to patients, answer their queries, and ensure their comfort while positioning them correctly for scanning.
Image Processing: Process images of various body parts (brain, thyroid, bone, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver) using computer systems for detailed analysis.
Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients for any unusual reactions to radioactive drugs, ensuring their well-being throughout the procedure.
Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of the quantity and type of radiopharmaceuticals used during procedures, as well as procedural details.
Image Production: Generate computer-generated or film images for physician interpretation, aiding in accurate diagnoses.
Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols to protect both staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and inspections on medical machines and imaging equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Continual Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements, innovations, and developments in the nuclear medicine field to provide the highest quality care.
