The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical and medical instruments. This role requires a meticulous approach to ensure all instruments and equipment are properly prepared and free from contamination. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical staff to support patient safety and the smooth operation of our facility.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instrument Sterilization: Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical and surgical instruments according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect, assemble, and maintain sterilization equipment and related tools, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of sterile supplies and ensure proper storage and organization.
  • Quality Control: Follow strict quality control procedures to maintain the effectiveness of sterilization processes and document all activities accurately.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare staff to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and address any equipment-related concerns.
  • Compliance: Adhere to infection control standards, safety regulations, and facility policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in sterile processing preferred.
  • Certification: Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare field is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex protocols, and effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with sterilization techniques, infection control practices, and medical equipment handling.
