Where Every Breath Tells a Story: Advance Your Respiratory Therapy Career Near the Connecticut Coast

As a Respiratory Therapist, you know that behind every breath is a story — of resilience, recovery, and hope. Near the historic and vibrant city of New Haven, you’ll have the opportunity to bring those stories to life in a setting that blends cutting-edge clinical care with the warmth of a tight-knit healthcare community.

This full-time opportunity places you at the heart of patient care, working in a fast-paced acute care setting where your knowledge and calm presence can mean the difference between struggle and relief. Whether you're managing advanced ventilator protocols, responding to critical care emergencies, or providing support and education to patients and families, your expertise will help patients breathe easier and live fuller lives.

In this role, your professional excellence is matched by a lifestyle that offers access to coastal living, cultural richness, and the intellectual energy of a renowned university town — all just a short commute from New York City or the wooded tranquility of rural Connecticut.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy care, including aerosolized medications, airway management, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene techniques
  • Perform ventilator management and non-invasive respiratory support for patients in ICUs and critical care units
  • Interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases and adapt therapy plans based on results
  • Assist in emergency interventions, including code blue and rapid response activations
  • Educate patients and families on equipment use, breathing exercises, and self-care techniques
  • Document all care activities clearly and accurately within the EMR
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and case managers to ensure seamless, high-quality care

Education & Credentials

  • Associate of Science in Respiratory Care from an AMA-accredited program required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Health Sciences preferred
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
  • Active Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; NRP required prior to working with neonatal/pediatric patients

Skills & Experience

  • One year of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
  • Proficiency with mechanical ventilation and critical care protocols
  • Excellent bedside manner and emotional intelligence under pressure
  • Effective communication skills with both patients and multidisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with digital health record systems and safety compliance standards

Benefits & Culture

  • Competitive salary with annual merit increases and shift differentials
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with low employee contributions
  • Generous paid time off, holiday pay, and flexible scheduling
  • Reimbursement for continuing education, licensing, and certifications
  • Mentorship opportunities and cross-training for career growth
  • A supportive workplace culture grounded in clinical excellence and teamwork
