Job Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare the Operating Room: Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with Patient Prep: Position and drape patients safely.
  • Support Surgeons: Pass instruments, hold retractors, and maintain a clear view of the surgical field.
  • Ensure Sterility: Maintain sterile technique throughout the procedure.
  • Handle Instruments: Organize and manage surgical tools, including counting instruments and sponges.
  • Assist with Anesthesia: Prepare and handle medications and equipment as needed.
  • Manage Specimens: Handle and label specimens for pathology.
  • Clean Up: Disinfect the operating room and instruments post-procedure.
  • Document: Record procedure details, including instrument counts.
  • Maintain Equipment: Check and report on the condition of surgical equipment.
  • Collaborate with Team: Work with surgeons, nurses, and other professionals.
  • Follow Protocols: Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.
  • Assist Postoperatively: Help transfer patients to recovery and support postoperative care.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on surgical techniques and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Colorado Surgical Technologist license or the ability to obtain it before your start date (required).
  • Certification: Basic Life Support certification (required).
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience as a Surgical Technologist (strongly preferred).
