Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist

Position Overview:

MLR is excited to recruit a committed and skilled Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist for our client’s prestigious healthcare team. Reporting to the Rehab Services Manager, you will play a key role in advancing clinical excellence within the Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy teams, as well as among support staff like Rehab Techs and Schedulers. Your main responsibilities will include the precise and effective management of clinical education and competency programs.

 

In this position, you will devote approximately 80% of your time to providing direct patient care, including thorough evaluations and personalized treatments. The remaining 20% will be focused on developing programs and handling essential administrative tasks that enhance departmental operations. All activities will be conducted in accordance with the State Practice Act to ensure the highest standards of care and regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Promotes a Culture of Safety by supporting and collaborating with the team.
  • Communicates effectively in person and on the phone.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and fosters a friendly, efficient department environment.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Greets patients, families, and staff promptly, with a positive attitude.
  • Divides responsibilities: 80% patient care, and 20% administrative tasks.
  • Under the Rehabilitation Manager’s guidance:
    • Ensures staff maintain required credentials.
    • Develops and implements clinical competencies.
    • Acts as a Preceptor and Mentor.
    • Stay current on clinical techniques and regulatory changes.
  • Serves as a clinical resource, managing new staff orientation, and student programs, and providing in-services.
  • Attends meetings, and trainings, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizes Cerner EMR for accurate patient documentation.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: Graduate of a school of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology, approved by the respective American Physical, Occupational, or Speech and Hearing Therapy Associations is required.  
  • Licensure: Currently licensed in the State of California by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance is required.   
  • Certification: Possess all additional qualifications as recommended by the professions’ CA Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department is required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a clinician in the practice of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology with demonstrated clinical expertise and certification in one or more clinical areas is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Certified Clinical Instructor is preferred and highly recommended.  
  • Member of the American Respective Professional Therapy Association is preferred.
  • Strong experience as a mentor and in a multidisciplinary environment, in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is helpful.
