As a CRNA, you will play a vital role in patient care, providing expert anesthesia services in a variety of surgical and procedural settings. Key Responsibilities:

  • Anesthesia Administration: Safely administer anesthesia for a range of surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Pre-Anesthesia Assessment: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories, performing physical exams, and developing individualized anesthesia care plans.
  • Intraoperative Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs during procedures, adjusting anesthesia levels as needed to maintain stability and ensure a safe surgical experience.
  • Post-Anesthesia Care: Oversee patient recovery from anesthesia, managing pain and addressing any complications that may arise during the recovery process.
  • Patient Education: Clearly communicate anesthesia risks, benefits, and aftercare to patients and their families to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality care throughout the patient’s procedure.
  • Emergency Response: Provide immediate, expert response to anesthesia-related emergencies, delivering life-saving interventions and support when necessary.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of New Mexico.
  • Certification: Must be certified as a nurse anesthetist from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists (or its predecessor).
  • DEA: Must hold a current New Mexico and federal DEA certificate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): Current AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Current AHA Healthcare Provider ACLS certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Current AHA PALS certification.
  • CRNA License: Current New Mexico CRNA license required.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.
