Clinical Rehabilitation Services Specialist

Position Overview:

MLR is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist to join our client's esteemed healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will work alongside the Rehab Services Manager to promote clinical excellence across the Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy departments while providing essential guidance to support staff, including Rehab Techs and Schedulers. Your expertise will be critical in coordinating and overseeing clinical education and competency programs with precision and effectiveness.

 

You will dedicate 80% of your time to delivering personalized patient care through comprehensive evaluations and tailored treatment plans. The remaining 20% will focus on program development and administrative tasks that enhance overall departmental operations. All responsibilities will be carried out in strict accordance with your State Practice Act, ensuring the highest standards of care, compliance, and professionalism.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Communicates effectively in person and on the phone.
  • Promotes a Culture of Safety by supporting and collaborating with the team.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and fosters a friendly, efficient department environment.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Greets patients, families, and staff promptly, with a positive attitude.
  • Divides responsibilities: 80% patient care, and 20% administrative tasks.
  • Under the Rehabilitation Manager’s guidance:
    • Ensures staff maintain required credentials.
    • Develops and implements clinical competencies.
    • Acts as a Preceptor and Mentor.
    • Stay current on clinical techniques and regulatory changes.
  • Serves as a clinical resource, managing new staff orientation, and student programs, and providing in-services.
  • Utilizes Cerner EMR for accurate patient documentation.
  • Attends meetings, and trainings, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: Graduate of a school of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology, approved by the respective American Physical, Occupational, or Speech and Hearing Therapy Associations is required.  
  • Licensure: Currently licensed in the State of California by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance is required.   
  • Certification: Possess all additional qualifications as recommended by the professions’ CA Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department is required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a clinician in the practice of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology with demonstrated clinical expertise and certification in one or more clinical areas is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Member of the American Respective Professional Therapy Association is preferred.
  • Certified Clinical Instructor is preferred and highly recommended.  
  • Strong experience as a mentor and in a multidisciplinary environment, in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is helpful.
