ASCP-Certified Histo Technician - Full Time
**MLR is looking for a qualified Histo Technician to join an established hospital on the coast of California **
Job Summary for a Histo Technician:
Tissue Sample Processing:
- Receive tissue specimens from surgery or other departments.
- Trim, embed, and freeze tissue specimens using appropriate techniques.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and embedding centers.
Sectioning and Staining:
- Prepare thin tissue sections using microtomy techniques.
- Stain tissue sections using a variety of techniques, including routine and special stains.
- Ensure the quality and consistency of stained slides for accurate microscopic examination.
Quality Control:
- Perform and document quality control procedures to maintain laboratory standards.
- Monitor and troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Adhere to established protocols and safety regulations.
Recordkeeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of specimen processing, staining, and other relevant data.
- Ensure proper documentation of results, including labeling and tracking of specimens.
Minimum Qualifications for a Histo Technician:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in required field.
- ASCP certified.
- 2 years of experience working in a Histology lab required.
