Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates and schedules ultrasound exams to seamlessly align with other patient procedures.
  • Ensures patients are comfortably positioned and safely transferred for optimal imaging.
  • Tailors technical settings based on individual patient needs for precise diagnostic results.
  • Performs a wide range of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, retroperitoneal, obstetric, and gynecological scans, as well as imaging for treatment planning and minor surgical procedures.
  • Assists physicians in specialized procedures such as needle biopsies and amniocentesis, providing scanning, patient marking, and procedural support.
  • If licensed by the State of Arizona, conducts radiographic examinations as needed.
  • Accurately maintains patient records and ensures comprehensive documentation of examination data.
  • Operates and calibrates ultrasound equipment in accordance with physician guidance and clinical protocols.
  • Adheres to departmental policies, quality assurance programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Pursues ongoing professional development through educational programs, in-service training, and workshops to stay current with advancements in the field.
  • Demonstrates expertise in providing age-appropriate care to patients from newborns to geriatrics.
  • Delivers courteous and cooperative service to patients, staff, and visitors, while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to hospital guest relations standards.

Qualifications: 

  • Education: 
    • Completion of a training program in Sonography from an approved school.
  • Licensure: 
    • Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is required. 
  • Certification: 
    • Current CPR certification is required. 
  • Experience: 
    • Minimum of two years experience with abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, vascular and echocardiogram is required.
