Job Summary:
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) to perform diagnostic testing as per physician orders under the Clinical Director's supervision. This role demands a skill level in line with the individual's education, training, and experience, including maintaining lab equipment, conducting quality assessments, and efficiently managing workloads. The position may involve mentoring lab staff and students upon laboratory director's approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead positively to foster an effective departmental environment.
- Engage in continual learning to adopt new concepts and ideas.
- Execute venipuncture proficiently across patient ages, ensuring specimen quality.
- Conduct accurate testing in designated departments and handle troubleshooting.
- Adhere to SOP for quality control, document corrective actions, and make informed decisions about patient results.
- Process proficiency samples, document critical values, and adhere to confidentiality in releasing results.
- Participate in competency testing and professional development activities.
- Maintain certification and actively participate in in-service education and meetings.
- May include training new employees or students.
- Utilize computer and LIS system effectively.
- Collaborate positively with a broad demographic of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Support the Medical Center's mission and maintain consistent attendance.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Registered MLT/MT with valid credentials (ASCP, NCAMLP, AMT, ASMT or equivalent) or eligible within six (6) months.
- Proficient in operating laboratory instruments and interpreting results.
- Effective communication skills with patients, medical staff, and customers.
- Capable of catering to patients of all ages and understanding their needs and limitations.
- Familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work within set guidelines.
