Microbiology Lead/Medical Laboratory Scientist

Key Responsibilities: 

• Microbiology Oversight: I lead the microbiology department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of specimens, including cultures and sensitivity testing. 
• Diagnostic Testing: Perform and interpret laboratory tests across multiple disciplines, such as hematology, chemistry, and immunology. 
• Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain the highest laboratory accuracy and reliability standards. 
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor laboratory personnel, fostering a collaborative and educational environment. 
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all laboratory activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including CLIA and OSHA standards. 
• Equipment Maintenance: Oversee laboratory instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal functionality.

Qualifications: 

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, or a related field. 
• Certification: ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent. 
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience, focusing on microbiology; prior leadership experience is preferred. 
• Skills: Strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. 
• Licensure: Eligible for or currently holding an Ohio state laboratory licensure.
